After reading what past designers had to say about this course, I think it would be in my best interest to work on my presentation skills and time management. Last semester, in Intro to Graphic Design, I found myself staying up very late and making the assignments more painful than they needed to be. This semester, I am going to try and start assignments early and make the whole process more pleasant for myself. Also, because public speaking and presentation seem to be highly emphasized in this course, I want to work on this skill. Even though I can plan out what I want to say in my head perfectly, speaking in front of people is hard for me and I lose my train of thought. I am going to work on actually practicing my presentations out loud before class. I am also taking an information presentation class this semester in the iSchool, so hopefully this will help with my VIS 317 presentations.
