After reading through all of the past students’ suggestions, I think one point that really stuck with me was the idea of going wild and then slowly cutting away from that. My biggest fear as a designer is being boring or unoriginal, but in the same sense I don’t want to be over the top. I think that was awesome advice in that it allows you to take a leap while also learning to part ways with aspects of a design in order to find a happy medium. In addition, the point on procrastination was another major flag for me. I don’t necessarily wait until the last minute, but I tend to underestimate how long certain portions of an assignment will take me. Hopefully I will learn to spread my time out better, and to do a lot of the pre-planning and sketching ahead of time rather than diving right into illustrator or indesign.
