What’s up, I’m Conner.
Here is what you should do to get the most out of this class:
- Go Wild. Try weird stuff. Experiment. This is your chance to find out what you like to do and what you’re good at. Don’t be afraid of critiques.
- Budget your time. You’re going to have a semester-long typeface project. You should definitely start working on that right away. It’s just too much work to put off to the last week or day. Make sketches and drafts and variants. (I also recommend using Illustrator along with Glyphs Mini or Font Forge because it makes things easier).
- Get to know your classmates. This major is pretty small so getting to know your classmates is key. They are the ones that can critique your work and help you get better. I encourage making a class Groupme for questions/advice about assignments as well.
And that’s pretty much it.
