Advice to Next Year’s Designers

Hello! I’m Eliza,

Now that you are in Typography Design class, here are some tips to do well in class.

  1. Do your best to start your assignments early! It is almost impossible to do good work overnight, so try to start the project as early as you can. Also, sketch as much as you can, it’s best to figure out what you want to design before getting on the computer. It will save you a lot of time.
  2. Don’t be afraid to try something different. You should be able to experiment and go out of your comfort zone. A lot of times you end up with something that you really like. Push yourself to be more detailed and bold in your designs.
  3. Take notes of your critiques. Get suggestions from the professor and classmates about your work. They will point out things that you might have not caught while working. Collaborate with your classmates, ask them for feedback. Don’t be discouraged and just keep doing your best!

I wish you the best of luck, this class can be tough, but it is very rewarding to see your finished product!
