Why Design?

Art and photography have been a part of my life ever since I was little. A lot of my family members are photographers to the point where my cousin’s dog’s name is Leica, so I have grown up with photographers all around me. I also have been taking art classes since a very young age. For this reason, I knew I wanted to work in the communications industry one day. It was not until after I took GRA217 that I realized I had to be a designer. I have always been extremely OCD and organized, two qualities I believes almost every designer carries. These characteristics have translated directly into my design work. People would call be very selfless as I tend to put others before myself. That being said, I love helping others, and I believe through design, I can provide help to others. I love that with design, one can be creative and anything can be open for interpretation. Throughout my experiences in graphic design, I have worked a lot with images, but not much with text. As a designer interested in web design, it is essential to understand typography. I am really excited to learn more about typography and how typography can be applied to a variety of design techniques.

  1. Did you know that I had a cat named Leica? LOL. … So glad you’re in the program, Staci, and I love that you said you “had” to be a designer. That’s the mark of a true one. :)
