After reading the lessons from past designers who took this class, the pieces of advice that stood out to me the most were about critique and improvement. For me, it can be really nerve-wracking to put something that I’ve done up for criticism, but that’s one of the most important parts of becoming a better designer and a better consumer of design. One past student said that no matter how good you think you are, you can always be better, and that resonated with me because there are so many opportunities out there to improve my skills and all I have to do is take them. If I only work inside my own bubble, then there’s no way I could come out of this course and this program ready to compete with the rest of the designers in the world. I have to let everyone else help improve my work, and do the same in return.
