Reading the advice of past students is a great idea and already incredibly helpful. One piece that really resonated with me was the idea of being curious as a way to become more familiar with good design. Especially as a non-major, it is easy for me to fall down the rabbit hole of comparing my work to others and being frustrated that my design will never live up to ones I see in class, Pinterest, or elsewhere. In fact, I need to see other people’s work and appreciate their cleverness and skill in order to be better myself. I will try to become a consumer of good design and hope that it rubs off during this semester!
