Dear Future Designers

Welcome to VIS 317/617 Typographic Design class! In this class you will learn a lot about knowledge of typography that you never paid attention before. Prof. Strong will show you the beauty behind typefaces. This class required a lot of work and a lot of time, but you will have fun with it. Here are 3 suggestions:

1. Always start your project earlier

After you receive your assignment sheet, you should start to think about how you can finish this work. At first, you will think that you have a lot of time to do. But, it is good for you to start it earlier, for example, drawing some sketches. Then you will have time to revise it or discuss it with Prof. Strong.

2. Don’t hesitate to ask Prof. Strong questions and go to her office hour

During class, we will have enough time to learn knowledge and present our works. After class,  you can schedule Prof. Strong’s office hours.  You can ask questions or get advice from Prof. Strong to revise your works.

3. It is ok to have a relax when you are stuck in the project

Being a designer, we always have no idea about improving or revising our works. You should have a good relax or a deep breath when you don’t know how to continue your creation. You can watch a film, listen to music, play game or drink.
