Dear Future Designers

Welcome to VIS 317/617 Typographic Design class! In this class you will learn a lot about knowledge of typography that you never paid attention before. Prof. Strong will show you the beauty behind typefaces. This class required a lot of work and a lot of time, but you will have fun with it. Here are 3 suggestions:

1. Always start your project earlier

When you get your assignment sheet, you will feel that there are plenty of time to finish it. However, don’t wait until the last minute. It is always good to start the project earlier, and you will have more time to revise on it before the due date.

2. Don’t hesitate to ask Prof. Strong questions and go to her office hour

Prof. Strong will always be there for you to help you. She will provide you more feedbacks in her office hour! In the class, there will not have enough time to go over each project. In the office hour, you are able to ask as many questions as you can, and Prof. Strong will be patient to answer questions.

3. It is ok to have a relax when you are stuck in the project

It is normal when you have no idea what you can improve during the revision. Have a deep breath and leave the project for a bit. You will have more new ideas when you go back to your work after a break.
